Iowa State Fair

Monday evening Steve and I hit up the fair for our annual junk food and free concert. This year I got the Dessert Nachos. It was delicious and yes I ate the whole thing for my supper! We saw the band Hairball on the Bud Light Stage. The actual singing was a C but the theatrics was an A+. I stood on the bleachers dancing for two hours to all my favorite 90s hits.

Visit to Omaha

Last Saturday Steve and I visited Lauren and Ah'treil. Ah'treil will start Kindergarten tomorrow and Lauren starts classes on Monday. They live on campus at College of St Marys so we did what city
People do and walked everywhere. I loved it! First we ate at a BBQ joint called, Dickeys BBQ pit, then we walked to Jones Bakery (which won cupcake wars on Food Network) for a delicious dessert. It did not disappoint. It was so fun to spend the day with them before the school year starts:)

Cousin Play date

Another fun day with the four kids. They get along so well and had so much fun playing! Eden slept most of the visit and woke up after Ev fell asleep. Soooo, Eden and I had lots of us two time where she talked nonstop. Two redhead chatter boxes. I see a good pair of ear plugs in my brothers future;)

I did it!

Tuesday Andrea went back to work and I spent the afternoon with both girls. Everlee was very excited to see Eden when we picked her up from preschool. To celebrate our new routine we stopped at Sweet To Eat and Ev got to pick out her own special treat. Chcolate Cupcake with sprinkles was her choice. Then we went to Miracle Park to play. While Ev burned off some cupcake energy Eden and I spent time in the shade. Lots of moms and sitters commented how adorable her chubbiness was;). Last thing at the park is I push Ev on the swing: 3 underdogs. Because she's three is Ev's rule.
While the girls were napping Gramma K and Rich arrived. Both were surprised at the quietness of the house. LOL.
All was good. It may not be like that every time they come through the door but no one was bleeding and everyone was fed. In my book that's a successful day!

Weekend at the cabin

Last Thursday Steve and I picked up his mom and had an extended weekend in MN relaxing. Each morning I went out in the kayak. It was so peaceful and beautiful out as the sun was rising. Then in the afternoons we took the boat out for a spin. It was fun to catch up with everyone at Key Largo, play dice games at night, and really just enjoy the time with my mother I law. She is always so grateful for the extra helping hands and truly makes it a vacation with not allowing anyone to cook or clean. It was also fun to get in a lot of shopping with Terri. Both of us can truly shop til we drop. What a great weekend get away.

Big Kids weekend

I LOVE that our families are so close and we get to enjoy being around for all the nieces and nephew activities but this weekend I was able to enjoy my siblings and their spouses kidless! Friday evening we spent with Rich, Andrea, no fuss little Eden, Jan and Greg at Glen Oaks for an evening on the patio listening to great music and sharing lots of laughs.Thank You Greg and Jan for treating us to yummy food and tasty drinks. We love you included us in your fun.
Then Sunday evening we enjoyed out with Hollie and Jason. First we went to Eatery A for supper and enjoyed pizza, dessert, drinks and more laughs. Then we continued the laughter at Wells Fargo Arena at Jim Gaffigans stand up comedy. Oh how his stories are so relatable when it comes to family, spouses and kids. Laughter is certainly the best medicine and we had plenty of it this weekend.
Thank you to both Grandmas for making it happen!
