Last Friday we packed up for our first weekend of camping this summer and headed to Jefferson, Iowa for the 37th Annual Belltower Festival. We literally arrived minutes apart from mom and dad and set up our campsite at the Greene County Fairgrounds in the cattle building! Our host, Jennifer, was definitely the Hostest with the Mostest! There was no time to waste as we were eager to try out Dads newest camping purchase, The Coolest Cooler. In fact, we loved it so much we had to walk instead of drive to the uptown festivities;). After supper we made our way to The Spare Time Lounge where Steve and I bowled a game(yes I let him win by one pin), watched the NBA final game and listened to regulars sing Karaoke.
Saturday morning we got up bright and early to enjoy the Firemans Breakfast then head out on our Bootleggers Templeton Rye'd. 3 of us tried the whiskey as it was coming out of the metal barrel at 178 proof! Not gonna lie, it burned for a minute afterwards. We visited four more spots to finish out our poker hand and run for the day. By this time it was darn right hot out we headed back to the cattle barn and cooled off and napped.
Then it was on to the nights festivities. No trip to Jefferson would be complete without visiting the casino where I was the big winner and a ride up 128 ft. in the elevator to the top of the belltower.
